Clear Ceramic Aesthetic Braces
Clear ceramic braces accomplish your orthodontic treatment just like metal braces. With ceramic braces, "They'll notice everything but your braces."
Ceramic Braces may be used whenever metal braces are appropriate for treatment. While ceramic braces are strong like metal, they come off easily at the end of treatment. You can wear ceramic braces even if you participate in sports.

Invisalign uses a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you're wearing. So you can smile more during treatment as well as after. Patients entering our practice, as well as those already undergoing active orthodontic therapy, can greatly reduce the length of time in orthodontic treatment by opting to be Fast Tracked with Accelerated Osteogenic OrthodonticsTM - AOOTM.
Patients who would decline conventional orthodontics strictly due to the length of treatment now have a viable alternative. This group of patients has tended to include the older teenager, adults whose social or professional responsibilities would preclude long treatment periods and patients that are simply running out of time as an important event nears.
Over a decade of research has culminated in the development of procedures that result in accelerated orthodontics. Teeth can be moved approximately 4 times faster than ever before possible with conventional orthodontics. As a result, the treatment time for orthodontic cases can be reduced from 18-36 months to 3-8 months. Accelerated orthodontics is a combination of advanced orthodontics and time-tested and proven rudimentary procedures from the fields of periodontics and oral surgery. None of the procedures or techniques are new or unique. However, when used in combination with one another, orthodontists gain a powerful advantage in getting to the end point faster than ever thought possible. Fast Tracked patients in our practice undergo accelerated orthodontics. Although Fast Tracked patients complete their treatment in less time than traditional orthodontic patients, they are seen more often. This ultimately results in Fast Tracked patients having the same number of visits as our traditional patients. We appreciate the stressful demands that this can make on some patient’s schedules so we make every effort to accommodate their needs.
Traditionally, orthodontic treatment takes such a long time because of insufficient size, shape and responsiveness of the bone that surrounds the teeth. The slow and continual application of orthodontic forces, to an unaltered bone, triggers a resorptive/absorptive cycle resulting in extremely slow tooth transport. This is the mechanism that orthodontists have used to move teeth for the past 200 years. Accelerated orthodontics solves this dilemma by employing advanced orthodontics and by exploiting the dynamics of bone physiology of an activated tooth-supporting bone. By stimulating and harnessing the innate potentials of living bone, the teeth can be moved at an accelerated rate through newly formed viable bone.
Activation of the bone housing involves the selective vertical scratching and stippling of the outer aspects of the bone that surrounds the teeth. The procedure is performed with a piezosurgical technique by a specialty trained dental surgeon (periodontist or oral surgeon). Thanks to controlled three-dimensional ultrasound vibrations, maximal surgical precision is accomplished without soft tissue injury in a practically blood free surgical field. Artificial particulate bone grafting material is placed over the activated bone (augmentation) prior to suturing. The activated tooth-supporting bone will permit accelerated tooth movement two weeks post operatively. Both upper and lower jaws can undergo the procedures at the same in-office appointment. A single tooth can also undergo the procedures included in accelerated orthodontics.
The reactivity and responsiveness of upper and lower jaws to activation and augmentation is consistent with the cell biology and physiologic stages seen in the wound healing pattern of the regional acceleration phenomenon (RAP). Striking bursts in bone activity (demineralization and remineralization) occurs adjacent to the site of the activation and augmentation. Early Treatment
Dr. Gorin recommends that every child first visit the office at age 7. This may surprise you because orthodontic treatment is generally associated with adolescence. An early examination, however, is important to ensure maximum dental health for your child.
The following early warning signs may indicate that your child should have an orthodontic examination as soon as possible:
Difficulty in chewing
Open-mouth breathing
Thumb or finger sucking
Overlapping or crowding of erupting permanent teeth
Jaws that tend to click or pop
A developing underbite, overbite, protruding front teeth, or abnormal bite development
Although age 7 is the best time for the majority of children to have their first orthodontic examination, a visit at an even younger age is advisable if a particular problem has been noted by the parent, family dentist, or child’s physician.
Benefits of Early Diagnosis Dr. Gorin can improve your smile at any age, but there is usually a best age for treatment to begin. An early examination allows a determination of how and when a child’s particular problem should be treated for maximum improvement with the least time and expense. In some cases, early treatment achieves results that are unattainable once the face and jaws have finished growing.
The First Visit An orthodontic examination at age 7 does not always result in immediate treatment. After evaluating your child, Dr. Gorin may simply want to check your child periodically while the permanent teeth erupt and the jaws and face continue to grow. If, however, your child has a problem, Dr. Gorin may recommend interceptive treatment. These limited measures are used to guide facial growth and tooth eruption, thereby preventing more serious problems from developing. Early intervention frequently makes the completion of treatment at a later age easier and less time consuming.
Adult Treatment
Braces at Almost Any Age “A beautiful smile in a healthy mouth is the most obvious goal of orthodontic treatment, but there’s so much more to our specialty than meets the eye,” points out Dr. Gorin. “As teeth and jaws come into alignment, self-esteem increases too. Patients can look forward to a lifetime of improved dental health." Today more adults are having orthodontic treatment because of greater awareness of the health benefits of a proper bite and the increased self-esteem that comes with an attractive smile. Given today’s technological advances and the affordability of treatment, patients of all ages are improving their smiles.
One of our patients, Beth, didn’t start treatment until she was in her 40s. She, like countless others who feel embarrassed about their crooked teeth, would reflexively cover her mouth whenever she laughed or smiled. Now she beams, and wonders why it took her so long to seek treatment.
More than five million people in the United States and Canada are presently in orthodontic treatment, according to the American Associatioin of Orthodontists. One in five is over age 18. Some patients are in their 50s, 60s and older. Less visible, more comfortable braces make treatment more appealing than ever. Healthy teeth, bones and gums of almost any age respond well to treatment.
Good news! The new techniques and appliances we use greatly reduce discomfort levels, decrease the frequency of visits, shorten treatment time and may allow you to choose from several options. Your options may include metal braces, translucent braces or Invisaligntm, transparent aligners that can be worn to improve mild cases of misaligned teeth.
Jaw Surgery (Orthognathic Surgery)
The definition of Orthognathic means “straight jaw”. Often a patient may visit the orthodontist to have their teeth straightened and obtain a better and healthier bite. However there is a small group of patients that will require the expertise of the oral surgeon to help the orthodontist get the bite correct. This is because not only are the teeth crooked but also the jaw itself is not in correct alignment. A growth problem, traumatic injury, or pathologic process of the upper, lower or both jaws are common causes of this problem. Thus even if the orthodontist would get the teeth straight the bite would still not come together because the upper and lower jaw bones are not aligned.

Milling and polishing technologies have advanced so that the edges of the braces are as smooth as possible.
